Classical Wonders of Western Turkey – Eight Days Through Three Thousand Years
This circuit links the stories most travellers know from books: Homer's Troy, Roman Ephesus, the Gallipoli campaign of 1915 and the birth of the Ottoman Empire in Bursa. A licensed guide leads a small group of no more than ten around the Marmara and Aegean regions, with every day planned so the sites are seen in the order their history unfolds.
At Gallipoli your guide walks you through the landing beaches and ridges — Anzac Cove, Lone Pine and Chunuk Bair — telling both the Allied and the Turkish side of the campaign. On the Aegean you visit Pergamon and Ephesus, then the terraces of Pamukkale, before returning north via İznik (ancient Nicaea) and Bursa, the first Ottoman capital.
