11,500 years old — 7,000 years older than Stonehenge. The temple that rewrote the timeline of human civilisation.

Göbekli Tepe ("Potbelly Hill") is, as of current radiocarbon dating, the oldest known megalithic temple in the world: built 9,500 BC, predating Stonehenge by ~7,000 years and the invention of agriculture by ~1,500. Its discovery in 1994 by German archaeologist Klaus Schmidt overturned the assumption that organised religion followed farming — at Göbekli Tepe, religion appears to have come first.
